Homestead Conservation Easement

Homestead

33.06 acres donated April 14th, 2000.
Conservation Values protected:

  • Scenic Open Space: The public can see this easement property from County Road 8, a heavily used road near the Town of Fraser. The views from the house and the surrounding open meadows, forests and the more distant mountains and the continental divide are striking. For the recreational user on the property, glimpses of these features and of the more immediate forest glades and draws are just as rewarding.
  • Wildlife Habitat: Deer, elk and moose use this property for summer range, winter thermal cover and migration routes between the adjacent Arapaho National Forest and lower wintering areas. The wetland areas on the property and Ranch Creek, that flows through the property and ultimately into the Fraser River, provide excellent riparian habitat.
